Checklist
In the list below, you will find the most common causes why INCA does not find connected hardware.
Note |
|---|
This checklist only provides a condensed overview for experts; you will find more detailed information in the Guided Troubleshooting. |
Check for the following possible causes:
General:
- Does the hardware require an INCA add-on and is this add-on installed together with INCA? Details...
- Was the host interface used for connecting the hardware activated in your last search for hardware? Details...
- Are all cables between PC and the device connected?
- If using a hub or switch, is the hardware connected correctly and is the hub or switch working?
- Are the cables free of defects?
- Are the correct cable types used, and are you using the original cables that were provided by ETAS? (The required cable types are specified in the user's guides of the hardware and on the ETAS web pages.)
- Is the hardware powered correctly?
Is the device in sleep mode?
In order to save power, some ETAS devices will go to sleep mode if they do not see that they are connected to another device/computer. To solve that, connect your Ethernet cable from your computer to the "HOST"/"Sync In" port on the device. After the device turns on, connect to the device using the web interface and change the settings so that the device stays always on. Consult the device's manual for details on how to do that.
- Is the hardware free of defects? Details...
- Is the ECU free of defects? Details...
- Is the ignition on?
- Is the ECU powered?
- Does the project description (*.a2l) comply with the ECU?
- Is the device connected to the correct port of the interface module (e.g. CAN1 and CAN2 have not been confounded)?
Are the required termination resistors for the corresponding bus used?
Note
See the module's user's guide for details on the required termination resistor.
USB hardware:
- Is the USB device driver installed? Details...
- Does the device's firmware version match? Details...
- Did you undock the PC, and did the undocking procedure disable the USB port? Details...
Ethernet hardware:
- Is the hardware network configured correctly? Details...
- Does the firmware version of the hardware match? Details...
- Is there an initialization problem, e.g. after connecting a different PC to the hardware network? Details...
- Did you undock the PC, and did the undocking procedure disable the Ethernet port? Details...
- Is the firewall configured in such a way that it does not block the communication to the hardware? Details...
