Searching for Hardware and Mapping the Hardware Arrangement
The easiest way to build up your hardware configuration in the Daisy Chain configuration program is by searching for physically connected hardware. Number, type, serial number and the arrangement of the modules in chains is read and can be added to the configuration. If the configuration already contains devices, they can be mapped to the found hardware.
For that purpose the editor compares the serial numbers, chain IP addresses and module type as well as the arrangement of the devices in chains. Everything which can be automatically mapped gets mapped; the remaining modules can be mapped manually.
To search for physically connected hardware and map it to the modules which are part of the current configuration in the Daisy Chain configuration program:
In the Hardware menu, select Search for Hardware or click the following icon in the toolbar:

The Mapping Dialog opens. The list box on the left hand side lists all devices that are part of the current configuration in the editor, the list box on the right hand side shows all physically connected ES4xx and ES63x modules that were detected by the search for hardware.
All devices are listed with their device name and serial number. The list of physically connected hardware modules also gives the alias names if available.
Device pairs which are already mapped are indicated by a string in square brackets, which is the same for both mapped devices (e.g. [SN->1]).
To assign two devices to each other, select one in each list and click Connect.
The successful assignment is indicated by the string in brackets which precedes the device name.
- If you want to unassign two devices which have already been mapped, click on the device and click Disconnect.
- After having finished mapping, click OK.
The dialog closes. New hardware modules which were found by the search for hardware are added to the configuration. Moreover, for mapped devices, missing or inconsistent data such as missing serial numbers are updated in the configuration.
Note |
If the option Preview Stored Configurations is set, the configurations that are saved in the devices' own memory are displayed together with the configurations set in the Daisy Chain configuration program. |
