Editing the Element Scope

Open the properties editor for the element.
In the Scope field, activate the Local, Imported, or Exported option to set the element scope.
If you switched from Local to Export, or vice versa, continue with the last step.
Or
If you activated Imported, continue as follows.
The following message opens:
If you change an element to 'imported', all settings in the 'attributes' frame will get lost. Continue?
1. Activate Remember my Decision if you want to apply your answer to all such cases.
  You can revoke this setting in the ASCET options window, Confirmation Dialogs node.
2. Click OK to continue.
  The element is set to Imported. The Attributes area is disabled. If an exported counterpart is available, that element's attributes are displayed in the Attributes area.
3. Continue with the last step.
Or
If you switched from Imported to Local or Exported, continue as follows.
The following message opens:
Do you want to take over the attributes from the exported element?
1. Activate Remember my Decision if you want to apply your answer to all such cases.
  You can revoke this setting in the ASCET options window, Confirmation Dialogs node.
2. Click Yes to use the attributes from the exported element.
  The element scope is set as selected. The Attributes area is enabled, and the settings of the exported counterpart are kept.
3. Click No to discard the attributes from the exported element.
  The element scope is set as selected. The Attributes area is enabled, and default settings are applied.
4. Continue with the last step.
Click OK to close the properties editor and accept the settings.
