Creating a Basic Element

In the Elements palette or toolbar, click the button for the element you want to create ().

The properties editor of the element is opened automatically and allows the user to change the element properties immediately.

Element names must not begin with a number. If you enter a name that begins with a number, an allowed name is suggested instead. By default, the and buttons are displayed. To display the and buttons instead, the editor optionUse signed/unsigned discrete types must be activated.

If you do not want to open the properties editor upon an element’s creation, deactivate the Always Show Editor for new Elements option at the bottom of the editor.
You can revoke this setting in the ASCET options window, Confirmation Dialogs node.
To create a system constant, select System Constant from the Kind combo box.
You can also select any user-defined system constant.
Adjust the other element properties according to your needs and close the properties editor with OK.
In the Outline tab, a new element is added.
If you are working in the block diagram editor for SWCs, click inside the drawing area to place the new element.
In the diagram, the element appears at the point where you clicked. You can drag it to another position.

You can change the properties of an element later via re-opening the properties editor.
