User Options: General Tab
To go to this tab, click the User Options
button and select the General
tab.
You can make the following settings for general actions:
Defines the server activation for the Tool API. This is required for the use of ASAM-3MC, MATLAB, and other COM applications.
Changes in this setting only become valid after restarting INCA.
Note
For help documentation on the Tool-API used by INCA, refer to the cebra directory in the INCA program directory.
Maximized windows
Defines whether the program windows should be maximized when they are opened.
Changes in this setting are only applied to newly added windows; the setting has no influence on windows that are already open.
Allow ECU reset during HW initialization
Defines whether or not an ECU reset is performed during a hardware initialization.
Yes
The ECU is reset when the hardware initialization is triggered by the automation (INCA-COM).
No
The ECU is not reset when the hardware initialization is triggered by the automation (INCA-COM).
Defines whether the toolbar icons shall be shown in small, medium or large size.
Note
The icon size in the toolbar of YT and XY oscilloscopes can be defined by separate user options.
Changes in this setting become valid immediately.
Acoustic signals
Defines whether actions should emit an acoustic signal (if you have a sound card). The acoustic signals are assigned to actions in the Windows System Panel under Sounds and Audio Devices.
Note
For further information, see the INCA Getting Started manual.
When this option is set to Yes, INCA performs the following checks:
- INCA checks whether the datasets match the project description file used (*.a2l) when reading the HEX file or using the import/export function to add a project to the database.
- INCA checks whether the ECU documentation matches the project.
Note
In front of the dataset name, a status icon is displayed. The status refers to the dataset check, the bounds check, and the overlap check.
is displayed if all checks are ok.
is displayed if the checks detected an error. Details on the error are given in the tooltip.
No status icon means that neither dataset check nor bounds check nor overlap check was executed. When this option is set to Yes, INCA checks whether the values of the calibration variables in the dataset (or data exchange file) are within the bounds that are defined in the project description file (*.a2l).
Note
In front of the dataset name, a status icon is displayed. The status refers to the dataset check, the bounds check, and the overlap check.
is displayed if all checks are ok.
is displayed if the checks detected an error. Details on the error are given in the tooltip.
No status icon means that neither dataset check nor bounds check nor overlap check was executed.Which of these bounds checks will be done can be defined in the INCA user options under Data Exchange - Bounds Check.
When this option is set to Yes, INCA checks the overlapping calibrations. Overlapping calibrations are calibrations which take memory areas which collide with other calibrations.
Note
In front of the dataset name, a status icon is displayed. The status refers to the dataset check, the bounds check, and the overlap check.
is displayed if all checks are ok.
is displayed if the checks detected an error. Details on the error are given in the tooltip.
No status icon means that neither dataset check nor bounds check nor overlap check was executed.Warning before download if EPROM identifier is different
Defines whether a warning is issued if the EPROM identifiers are different for a Download or Upload in the memory page administration.
Show data collection information
If you encounter a specific problem and need help from ETAS for troubleshooting, exact log files might be required for reproducing and analyzing the situation properly. These can be zipped and sent to ETAS through INCA.
This option defines whether a dialog will be shown again at each startup asking you whether your user name may be included in such a zip file.
Report user name
If you encounter a specific problem and need help from ETAS for troubleshooting, exact log files might be required for reproducing and analyzing the situation properly. These can be zipped and sent to ETAS through INCA. With this option you can define whether your user name may be included in these files.
Yes
Your user name will be included in the zip files that might be sent to ETAS for problem analysis. This allows ETAS to contact you in case more information is required.
No
Your user name will not be included in any zip file sent to ETAS.
Check dataset code
Defines whether the code section of a HEX file is checked and compared with the code section of the project when the HEX file is imported.
Yes
INCA requires datasets with code that is matching the code of the master dataset.
Datasets without code are rejected.
No with warning
INCA brings up a warning if the datasets does not contain code. You can decide whether the dataset should be read or rejected.
No without warning
INCA expects datasets without code and reads them without a warning.
Use display identifier
Uses an ASAP2 display identifier when measure or calibration elements are shown.
Use encoding when reading the description file
Opens a dialog box in which you can define whether reading in A2L or DBC files requires a confirmation of the encoding to be used and which encoding should be offered by default. This option also allows you to read in files with 2-byte coding.
If the checkboxes are deactivated, description files are read in using the ASCII format.
If one of the checkboxes is activated, description files are read in using the format selected in the Default encoding drop-down list.
Note
The format selected in INCA must match the format of the description file to be read. Make sure that you have defined the same format in the file to be read. Use, for example, a text editor to do this.
ASAM-MCD 3MC interface version
Defines which ASAM standard is to be used for the automation interface.
ASAP3/iLinkRT V2.0
The procedural standard ASAP3/iLinkRT V2.0 is used.
iLinkRT V3.0
The procedural standard iLinkRT V3.0 is used.
ASAM-MCD 3MC V1.0
The object-oriented standard ASAM-MCD-3MC V1.0 is used.
Defines which MDA version is to be used when MDA is invoked from INCA.
The list box lists all MDA installations installed on your system and which are usable for this purpose.
Defines which browser is used to open data overviews in INCA.
<system default browser>
Uses the defined Windows default browser. This is the default setting. Changes to the Windows default browser are automatically detected and adapted in INCA.
<name of browser>
Select your preferred browser from the browser list. The list shows all browsers installed on your computer.
You can exchange these settings between users and computers using the INCA import and export function. If no additional browser is installed, the system default browser is used. The INCA browser path can be obtained via the COM API.
Note
If no web browser is set up in INCA, an error message is displayed as soon as an action requiring a browser is used.
Opens the Add-on activation dialog box in which you can activate or deactivate different INCA add-ons, see Add-on Activation Dialog Box.
