Adding, Removing, and Reloading LAB files
To select variables in the Variable Selection Dialog, you can use data lists already stored in LAB files (*.lab) and load such data lists from LAB files to the variable selection. This can be done either locally for single devices or globally for all devices.

If a LAB file contains variables not defined in the A2L file of the corresponding device, these variables will be ignored. This will not influence the variables defined in the A2L file. |
To add LAB files to a device
- Select in the Sources pane the device to which you want to explicitly add a data list from one or more LAB files.
- In the context menu,
select
Add LAB File. - Select one or more LAB
files (*.lab)
from your file system.
Keep the Ctrl key pressed and click the LAB files to select several LAB files. Click Open.
The LAB file(s) appear in the hierarchy tree of the Sources window below the device.
Note
Only variables of the LAB file which have been selected in the Variables pane are used. After closing and reopening the Variable Selection Dialog box, the local LAB files will be deleted from the view.
To add LAB Files to all devices
- Right-click All Sources in the Sources pane.
- In the context menu,
select
Add LAB File. Select one of more LAB files (*.lab) from your file system which contain the data list you require.
Note
Keep the Ctrl key pressed and click the LAB files to select several LAB files.
Click Open.
The LAB file(s) appear in the hierarchy tree of the Sources window below the device.
Note
Only variables of the LAB file which have been selected in the Variables pane are used. After closing and reopening the Variable Selection Dialog box, the global LAB files from the view are preserved.
To remove LAB files
- In the Sources pane, select the LAB files you want to delete from the data list and right-click.
- In the context menu,
select
Remove LAB File.
To reload LAB files
- In the Sources pane, select the LAB files you want to reload from the data list and right-click.
In the context menu, select Reload LAB File.
Note
If you reload a LAB file that has been modified outside of INCA, for example, in an external editor, these changes are immediately displayed and used in INCA after the reload.
