Downloading a Configuration to the Hardware
After having configured devices in the Daisy Chain configuration program, you can download the configuration to the physically connected hardware devices to save the settings in the devices' own memory. The parameter settings are not automatically applied, but they are saved in the device memory and can be read in or applied at any time, even after powering the device down and re-powering it.
Note |
Downloading the configuration is only possible if the arrangements in the Daisy Chain configuration program and in the actual chain topology match, i.e. if they contain the same numbers and types of devices and the devices are assigned to a chain in the same order. To check whether the arrangements match, you can verify the daisy chain configuration. If you need to adapt the arrangement in the Daisy Chain configuration program, you can do a search for hardware and map connected devices to those used in the editor. |
To download the device configuration to a physically connected hardware device:
In the Topology list, select the chain or device whose configuration you would like to download.
If you select a chain, the configuration of all devices in that chain will be downloaded at once to the memory of the corresponding hardware devices.
- Make sure that an IP address is set for that chain in the Daisy Chain configuration program; otherwise assign an IP address to the chain.
In the Device menu, select Download Configuration.
The Download Configuration dialog box opens.
- Enter a name for the configuration. Then choose whether you would like to be prompted if a configuration is already saved in the device or whether you would like to download the configuration without any further enquiries.
- Click Download to start downloading the settings from the Daisy Chain configuration program to the hardware devices.
The Daisy Chain configuration program searches for a physically connected daisy chain which has the same IP address and layout as the chain selected in the editor. Having found the hardware, the editor downloads the parameter configurations into the memory of the selected devices.
