J2534
A homogenous software and hardware interface for control unit reprogramming and diagnosis was created with the SAE J2534 standard.
The J2534 add-on gives you the ability to use J2534 hardware in INCA to measure and calibrate via the CAN interface. It supports the application via the serial CAN protocol interfaces of an ECU (UDS, XCP, KWP2000, CCP) as well as the capturing and recording of communication data on the CAN bus (CAN-Monitoring, CAN output).
Not just any J2534 hardware can be automatically applied with INCA. The requirement is that the devices as well as the manufacturer specific PC drivers support the SAE standard J2534 or 2534-1 and that the CAN interface (ProtocolID 0x05) be supported.
System limits
INCA supports a J2534 system for each device (the arrangement of several devices is not defined in the J2534 or J2534-1 standard).
The baud rate is limited to a maximum of 500 kBit. CAN-DB projects as well as ASAP2 projects with higher baud rates can not be implemented for J2534 hardware.
The J2534 module can only be used by one client application at a time. Consequently, INCA can not be used simultaneously with another diagnostic tool. Should a conflict arise with another tool, the error message ERR_DEVICE_IN_USE will be displayed. Please disconnect the other tool in such a case before continuing to work with INCA.
System parameters
Enter any name for the system.
Shows the serial number which is used in INCA to identify the J2534 hardware.
The serial number is assigned by INCA and saved in the hardware configuration. It cannot be edited.
Shows the firmware version of the connected hardware module.
Determines which port number is assigned to the device.
The port number is used to distinguish the devices from each other.
Shows the hardware connection between the hardware and the PC.
You cannot edit this field.
The list shows all J2534 devices that are installed on your PC and lists their vendor and model name.
Open the list and select the desired model.
Shows the currently used API version.
If the selected module also supports other (older) API versions, you can select if from this list.
Displays the path where the driver for the selected J2534 model is installed.
You cannot edit this information.
Click the ... button to call an external configuration dialog for the selected J2534 device.
This entry is only available if an external configuration dialog exists for the selected device and if it has been made generally available via the specification.
Application options
Via the CAN interface:
Measurement and Calibration Using XCP (CAN Bus)
Measurement and Serial Calibration Using CCP
Measurement and Calibration Using UDS (Unified Diagnostic Services)
Model Based Application Using XCPSimTime
Diagnostics Using OBDonCAN (available only with ODX add-on)
