Ethernet Connection

You can connect two or more measurement and calibration devices in a local ETAS network using the network card of your computer. The connected devices are identified in the local ETAS network by their unique IP addresses.

INCA distinguishes between the connected devices using their serial numbers. If a device is added to the hardware configuration, or if a device is detected automatically, ETAS reads the device serial number and stores it in the hardware configuration.

The serial number is used only for distinguishing devices if two or more devices of the same type are used in the hardware configuration. In addition to the serial number, devices can also be identified by their internal name (alias).

If only one device of a specific type is used in the hardware configuration, the hardware configuration can be used easily for another vehicle. If vehicles are changed, devices are automatically assigned for a known vehicle.
