User Options: Experiment Tab
To go to this tab, click the User Options
button and select the Experiment
tab.
You can make the following settings for experiments:
Measure
Opens the Adjust measure options dialog box in which you can make settings for the display of measurement values.
Calibration
Opens the Change of calibration options dialog box in which you can make settings for the display of variables.
Support for big data recording
Opens the Adjust Big Data Options dialog box in which you can make settings for the Big Data recording, see Adjust Big Data Options Dialog Box.
Name alignment
Defines how the variable names in the measurement and calibration windows of the experiment environment are aligned. In this way, the extra structural information in the names can be truncated and just the relevant name components displayed.
Left
Variable names are left-aligned.
Right
Variable names are right-aligned.
Changes in this setting are applied immediately, also to existing instruments, after reopening the experiment or switching the layer in the Experiment Environment.
Index alignment
Changes in this setting are applied immediately, also to existing instruments, after reopening the experiment or switching the layer in the Experiment Environment.
Defines how indices of vector or matrix elements are aligned in the measure variable name when the variable name is separated using full stop.
Left
The index is left-aligned.
Example: aaaa[1].bbbb.cccc.ddddRight
The index is right-aligned.
Example: aaaa.bbbb.cccc.dddd[1]Note
This setting only affects the variable name, but not the display ID. Display IDs are always written with the index right aligned.
Defines whether an index with or without an underscore as separator is added to array and matrix sub-element names or not.
Yes
Index with an underscore as separator is added to array and matrix sub-element name. Example: MyArray_[0].
No
No index with an underscore as separator is added to array and matrix sub-element name. Example: MyArray[0]
INCA divides measurement arrays into individual cells. Each cell is given an index. This option allows the adaption of the INCA array handling to individual workflows.
This option affects the following components in INCA where the variable name is used: Experiment, LAB files, MDF files, Recorder Manager, Trigger Editor, Calculated Signals, and the COM API.
If you change the setting of this option, INCA tries to convert used variable names of the measurement arrays. This allows previous experiments to be used with the changed setting.
INCA changes the following artifacts stored in the experiment:
Artifact
Adaption
Signal name Cell names Calculated signals Measurement cells used as input Trigger signals Measurement cells used as input Recorder Measurement cells In addition to the artifact stored in the experiment, there are other artifacts that INCA cannot adapt:
MDF files
LAB files
Key Variable Lists (KVL)
Exports (Recorders, Triggers, Calculated signals)
Clipboard (copy and paste between objects created with different option settings).
These artifacts should only be exchanged with the same option settings.
AUTOSAR description files contain both ISignal and SystemSignal names for elements used as monitoring variables.
For ARXML files, the Signal name switching applies to
LIN Monitoring
CAN Monitoring
FLX Monitoring
In the case of SecOC, you can switch in INCA the extension of the signal name by the PDU name between the name of the Secured-I-PDU and the name of the ISignal-I-PDU.
Signal name: ISignal, Secured PDU name: ISignal-I-PDU
Signal name: SystemSignal, Secured PDU name: Secured-I-PDU
If the value is write protected, restart INCA to make the value editable.
Previous INCA versions always use the SystemSignal and the Secured-I-PDU name for the above mentioned monitoring devices.
Note
Due to the change in signal names, Experiment elements can become no-match signals. Use the INCA-VN-Converter add-on to convert no-match signals.
Adjust font in the variable views if the view size is changed
Defines how the font size of variables is adjusted to the size of the measurement and calibration windows.
Yes
The font size is adjusted according to changes in the size of the display window.
No
The font size remains unchanged when the size of the window is changed.
Changes in this setting are only applied to newly added windows; the setting has no influence on windows that are already open.
View of search dialog
Defines how the results of the variable search are to be displayed.
By Structure
Displays variable sorted by layers and windows containing the variables.
By Variable
Displays variable sorted by variable name. The layer and the display window containing the respective variable are also specified.
Automatic start of data visualization
Defines whether the measure data display is started automatically when you open an experiment if the hardware could first be initialized properly.
Confirm page switch dialog
Enables a warning dialog box in the Experiment Environment when you switch between working page and reference page of a device.
Yes
Dialog box is activated.
No
Dialog box is deactivated.
Display variables of all subfunctions
Defines whether the variables of the subfunctions are also displayed when a function is selected.
Show functions in variable selection list
Show functions in variable selection list.
