Creating a Project

To create a project:

In the Database Objects list box, select the directory in which you want to create the project.
In the Edit menu, point to Add, and then select ECU project (A2L).
The Read ASAM-2MC from dialog box opens.
Select the description file for the project.
Click Open.
The Select data file dialog box opens.
Select the HEX file for the project. Instead of a HEX file, you can also select a data exchange file.
If a text file (file name extension .txt) exists in the same folder as the HEX file with the same name, its contents are automatically placed in the comments field.
Click Open.
The project is created in the selected directory.

If you have selected a data exchange file for importing, INCA creates a blank HEX file and copies the contents from the data exchange file into the newly created blank dataset. Fill bytes with the value 0x00 are inserted for variables which are described in the A2L file, but not in the data exchange file. If you have selected a project description file that does not contain any information on memory segments, an empty dataset will be automatically created. The dataset(s) originating from this project description may contain fill bytes. This is indicated by the following icon: If ECU documentation is available, you can add and assign it to the project.
