Searching for Variables
On the Variables tab, you can browse the list of variables for variables using an alphabetical filter.
To search for variables within the Variables list:
Enter the search term you are looking for.
The list of variables dynamically shows the search results.
Note
You can use wildcard symbols (* for strings, ? for a single character) to find variables for which similar keywords apply.
If filters are active, they will also be applied to determine the search result.
Expanded search
To search in the Variables list using the expanded search:
Click on
next to the edit box of the search or press Ctrl + f.The header of the Variables list is expanded by the search dialog. By default, the edit boxes of the following search criteria are displayed:
- all
- Description
- Display ID
- Click in the edit box of a search criterion.
Enter the search term you are looking for or click on
to select one of the last 10 search terms entered. Note
Enter several search criteria at the same time to narrow down your search.

Add search criteria
To add search criteria to the expanded search:
- Click on Add Criteria in the search window.
Select search criteria to be used in the search window.

- Name
- Data source
- Role
- Type
- Element type
- ECU address
- Location
- Bytes
- Bitmask
- Description
- Display ID
- Frame
The search criteria are added to the search window.
