Converting a Database from ASCET-SD 4.0 or Later

To convert a single database created with ASCET-SD 4.0 or later, proceed as follows:

  1. Open the Select database or workspace window as described in Loading a Database.
  2. In the Select database or workspace window, select the directory that contains the old database.
  3. Click OK to start the conversion.

    The system prompts you to confirm the conversion of your database. You can continue with Copy or Backup, or you can cancel the conversion with Cancel.

  4. Click Copy.

    A copy of the database is created in the current database pathClosed specified in the Database Path option (see Paths Options (Environment)) and then converted to the current ASCET version. The original database in its original location remains intact.

  5. Click Backup.

    The "Specify the directory to backup the original database" window opens. It works the same way as the Select database or workspace window. Continue as follows:

    1. Select a directory for the backup copy of the old database.

      Note

      If you select a non-empty directory, a subdirectory for the backup copy is created automatically.

      You can use the New button to create a new directory for the backup copy of the old database.

    2. Click OK to start the conversion procedure.

      The database is converted to the current ASCET format. A copy of the old database is written to the selected directory. Once the conversion is complete, you are asked if you want to set the current database pathClosed specified in the Database Path option (see Paths Options (Environment)) to the location of the converted database.

    3. Click No to keep the current database path or Yes to change the database path.

The duration of the conversion depends on the amount of data.
