ASCET Database Conversion Dialog Window
This window is opened from the Component Manager, via the File menu, Migrate Databases option.
This dialog window contains the following window elements.
Conversion Settings area
Source Directory field and
buttonContains the directory that contains the existing databases you want to convert to the current ASCET version. The directory is entered directly or selected via the
button.Save Converted Database to Another Location option
If activated, copies of the existing databases are created in the Target Directory and then converted to the current ASCET format. The original databases remain intact.
Target Directory field and
buttonNote
Only available if Save Converted Database to Another Location is activated.
Contains the directory that will contain the converted databases. Default value is the directory specified in the Database Path option in the ASCET options window, Environment\Paths node. A different directory is entered directly or selected via the
button.Note
Target Directory must not be identical to, or a subdirectory of, Source Directory.
Convert Databases in Place option
If activated, the existing databases are converted to the current ASCET format.
Create Backups option
Note
Only available if Convert Databases in Place is activated.
If activated, backup copies of the existing databases are created, prior to conversion, in the Backup Directory.
Backup Directory field and
buttonNote
Only available if Convert Databases in Place and Create Backups are activated.
Contains the directory that will contain the backup copies of the converted databases. Default value is %DATA%/DatabaseBackup. A different directory is entered directly or selected via the
button.Note
Backup Directory must not be identical to Source Directory, or a subdirectory of Source Directory.
Available table
This table lists all databases in the Source Directory.
first column
The checkboxes in this column allow to select or deselect individual databases for conversion.
Database
This column lists the names of the databases in the Source Directory.
Original
This column lists the size of the original database.
Converted
This column lists the size of the converted database.
Version
This column lists the ASCET version of the database. Versions older than V4.2 are marked as Unknown; these cannot be converted.
SCM
This column contains a green icon
if the old database is connected to an ASCET-SCM repository. Note
To convert a database connected to an ASCET-SCM repository, you have to activate either Save Converted Database to Another Location or both Convert Database in Place and Create Backups.
State
This column contains icons that provide status information.

meaning
prior to conversion

Error – the database cannot be converted.

Warning – there is a problem, e.g., not enough disk space.

The database is selected and ready for conversion.
during conversion

The database is currently being converted.
after conversion

The conversion was successful.
Information
This column lists additional information, e.g., the reason(s) why a database cannot be converted.
Convert
Starts the conversion.
Close
Closes the window without converting the databases.
