Converting an Experiment using a Mapping Table

If you want to reuse an existing experiment configuration with a different, similarly structured project, you can replace variable, raster and device names using a table of assignments.

To convert an experiment so that you can use it with another project:

  1. In the Database Objects list box, select an experiment.
  2. In the Edit menu, point to Convert Experiment, and then select Apply mapping table using new definitions.

A file selection dialog box opens.

  3. Select a mapping file containing a table with the mapping rules.

    Note

You can create mapping files using the Create mapping table template function and subsequently edit the mapping rules.

  4. Click Open.

A copy of the experiment is made in which the variable, raster and device names are adapted to the new project according to the mapping rules.

Note

The variables should be of the same type for the two projects. If the variable type change, e.g. from a curve to a characteristic value, then this variable is removed from the experiment.

If you want to reuse an experiment unchanged (i.e. with the same project) in an older version of INCA without losing the configuration for recording measurement data, select instead under Edit and submenu Convert Experiment the menu option Convert for INCA V5.x / V6.1 (only default recorder). A converted copy of the experiment will then be created. It includes the recording settings defined in the default recorder and can be used with INCA V5.4 or V6.1. Please note that additionally created background recorders as well as some trigger properties or trigger elements that have been introduced with later INCA versions will not be included in the converted experiment.
