User Options for Hardware: Defaults for HWC Settings Dialog Box
To open this dialog box, click the User
Options
button and select the Hardware
tab. On the Hardware tab, double-click in the Value field of the Defaults for HWC settings option.
You can make the following default settings for the hardware configuration in the Hardware Configuration Editor:
Measurement failure behavior
Defines the behavior when a measurement failure occurs. For example, when losing the device connection at measurement start or during measurement.
Abort after failure
Measurement in this device is stopped when an error occurs during start of measurement or reading data.
Abort at start, try again later
If an error occurs during the measurement itself, restarting measurement is tried repeatedly until it is successful or until the user stops measurement.
Retry always
In all circumstances, restarting measurement is tried repeatedly until it is successful or the user stops measurement.
Connection behavior
Defines the behavior when a device or target connection is restored after an interruption.
Reinitialize automatically
The device is automatically reinitialized and the checksum is verified.
Prompt for reinitialize
You will be asked if you want to reinitialize the device or not.
Reinitialize automatically and download the working page
The device is automatically reinitialized and the working page is downloaded if necessary.
Default KWP2000 flash port type for ETK
Defines which standard KWP2000 Flash Port is to be used. When an ETK is used, there are applications which should not be flashed using the ETK. The K-Line, CAN, and ETK interfaces are available as standard KWP2000s.
This setting is applied as default value to newly added devices; it has no influence on existing devices.
Confirm page switch
Asks the user for confirmation before switching the page for the checksum calculation.

Optimized up-/download
Defines whether all memory areas or only modified memory areas are to be uploaded or downloaded by default during uploads and downloads.
Note
By activating the optimized up-/downloads, the time for establishing data consistency between the PC and ECU can be significantly reduced. The possibility for up-/download optimization is only available if it is a CCP or XPC device and a CRC algorithm is assigned in the A2L file for checksum calculation.
Yes
If an upload or download is to be executed, a checksum calculation is made separately for the individual memory areas. Only the memory areas with different checksums are uploaded or downloaded.
No
When an upload or download is invoked, all memory areas are uploaded or downloaded.

If a bypass setup uses measurement rasters for prototyping purposes, conflicts in ECU access can arise between INCA and the prototyping application.
To avoid such conflicts, you can define in this option whether measurement rasters are allocated for INCA measurement automatically, even if they are in use by another application.
Yes
If the system detects that a raster used by the ETK is already accessed, the ETK will use the conflicting measurement raster(s) immediately and informs you that these raster(s) are not available for another application.
Note
This may lead to an uncontrolled crash of concurrent bypass applications. It is highly recommended to switch this option to No.
No
If the system detects that a raster used by the ETK is already accessed, the measurement via ETK will not be started.
This is the default.
