Setting, Exporting, and Importing User Options
INCA provides a large number of user options for setting the INCA behavior. If the selection of a user upon INCA startup has been enabled in the INCA station options, these option settings are saved individually for each user.
To set user specific INCA options:
In the Options menu, select User options - Open.
The User options - User: name dialog box opens.
- Select the tab containing the settings you want to change.
- To change a setting, double-click on the Value field. Depending on the type of the field, you can either enter a value directly, select a setting from a list, or open a selection dialog (e.g. for selecting a file or a path).
The string <---> in the Value field indicates that double-clicking this field will open a sub-dialog with further options.
When you mark an option or place the cursor in the Value field of an option, a brief help text of the option is displayed in the information area at the bottom of the dialog box.
Click OK.
Your settings are accepted.
Note |
Changes in options that influence the behavior in the Experiment Environment only become valid after (re-)opening the experiment. You can reset each user option to its original setting by clicking the Default button. The currently selected user option will be reset for the current user to the setting that is saved in the Userdef.ini file. |
You can exchange user option settings with another person by exporting the settings of the current user into a zip file and importing them on another PC. The zip file contains files with the option settings for INCA and CDM.
The import and export user options described in this topic
are designed for exchanging INCA option settings between installations
of the same INCA version on different PCs.
Reuse of option settings between different INCA versions on the same PC
is also possible:
You can copy option settings from a previous INCA version and use them
as default settings in a new INCA installation.
In this case, there is no explicit menu option for the copy action. Instead,
a dialog box is displayed offering you different copy options when you
start a new INCA version for the first time.
To export user options:
- In the Options menu, select User options - Export.
- The Export user settings dialog box opens.
- Select the path for the zip file containing the ini files with the settings and enter the file name in the entry field.
Click Save.
A zip file containing the user options of the current user is saved at the corresponding location. You can give this zip file to a colleague for import into INCA.
Note |
|---|
The INI files also contain path information. If the path information points to a path that does not exist on the target computer or if the path does not contain the expected data, INCA will show empty selection boxes or will not start the requested reading or writing of data. |
To import user options:
- Make sure that CDM, Experiment Environment and Hardware Configuration Editor are closed.
In the Options menu, select User options - Import.
The Import user settings dialog box opens.
- Select the zip file containing the exported option settings.
Click Open.
The current option settings of the current user get overwritten by the option settings from the import file. The imported settings get activated immediately.
Note |
Before overwriting the settings with the settings from the import file, INCA generates a backup file and saves it in the User folder under your ETASData location. If you need to retrieve the original settings, you can import the saved settings from the backup file. Changed CDM settings only apply to new configurations; existing configurations remain unchanged. |
