Opening an Experiment without Fully Initializing Hardware
Note |
INCA V7.1 introduced new YT and XY oscilloscope types. Within one experiment only one type of oscilloscopes can be used (see also Compatibility between oscilloscopes and INCA versions). However, you can have different experiments in your database where some contain oscilloscopes of the new type and others of the old type. When you open in INCA V7.1 an experiment for the first time which supports or even contains old oscilloscope types, you will be asked whether the experiment shall be converted to support new oscilloscope types exclusively. |
If you want to preconfigure an experiment without carrying out specific measuring or calibration actions, it is not necessary to access the measuring and application hardware. For this reason, you can also open an experiment without fully initializing the referenced hardware.
To open an experiment for the current workspace without fully initializing hardware:
- In the Database Objects list box, select the desired workspace.
Open the Experiment menu and make sure that the setting Experiment without full HW access is activated. If there is no tick before the entry, the setting is not activated; in this case, activate the setting by clicking the menu entry.
or
If you use
in the
toolbar, make sure that the setting Experiment without
full HW access is activated
As soon as the setting is activated, the symbol is displayed in the following way:
In the Experiment menu, select Run experiment.
or
Select
.
The experiment is opened in the Experiment Environment without fully initializing the hardware. In the Experiment Environment, you can configure and manage experiments. If you want to make measurements at a later time, you can explicitly initialize the hardware in the Experiment Environment.
Note |
The setting Experiment without full HW access is also applied when you open the Experiment Environment from the Hardware Configuration Editor. |
