Establishing a Connection

To establish a connection via a serial interface:

Note

You can establish a connection via a serial interface for the ASAP3 / iLinkRT V2.0 interface only.

  1. In the Connection menu, select Establish Connection.

    The Establish Connection dialog box opens.

  2. Select RS232 / V.24 connection ("Serial").
  3. In the Port list box, select the serial interface to which the test bench is connected.
  4. In the Baud rate list box, select the correct baud rate for the serial connection.
  5. Click Establish Connection.

    The connection is established with the specified connection parameters. If the connection can be made to the test bench, the status line displays Online.

To establish a connection via a network card:

  1. In the Connection menu, select Establish Connection.

    The Establish Connection dialog box opens.

  2. Select Network Connection.
  3. Select Network Card.
  4. In the list box, select the network card to which the test bench is connected.
  5. If you set up an ASAP3 / iLinkRT V2.0 interface, mark the Use fast socket communication checkbox for a short communication response time and for transferring the data without delay following start of measurement.

    Note

    If you do not use fast socket communication, the data is transferred with a delay of 500 ms following start of measurement.

    Note

    If you set up an iLinkRT V3.0 interface, the Use fast socket communication checkbox can not be edited.

  6. Click Establish Connection.

    The connection is established with the specified connection parameters. If the connection can be made to the test bench, the status line displays Online.

To establish a connection via a network link:

  1. In the Connection menu, select Establish Connection.

    The Establish Connection dialog box opens.

  2. Select Network Connection.
  3. Select Local Network Address.
  4. In the field, enter the address or name of the computer to which the test bench is connected.
  5. Enter the correct port number in the Network Port field.
  6. If you set up an ASAP3 / iLinkRT V2.0 interface, mark the Use fast socket communication checkbox for a short communication response time and for transferring the data without delay following start of measurement.

    Note

    If you do not use fast socket communication, the data is transferred with a delay of 500 ms following start of measurement.

    Note

    If you set up an iLinkRT V3.0 interface, the Use fast socket communication checkbox can not be edited.

  7. Click Establish Connection.

    The connection is established with the specified connection parameters. If the connection can be made to the test bench, the status line displays Online.
