Symbolic Regression

Function step > Symbolic Regression

The Symbolic Regression window contains the following elements:

Node Name

Name of the function node for Symbolic Regression.

Unit

Unit of the function node. The definition of a unit has no influence on the calibration of the parameter and is only visualized for support.

Target

Select input or node as target for Symbolic Regression.

Selected Inputs

List shows all selected inputs.

Select inputs or nodes as inputs for Symbolic Regression (moves selected item to Selected Inputs area)

Deselect inputs or nodes as inputs for Symbolic Regression (moves selected item to Available Inputs area)

Available Inputs

List shows all available inputs and nodes.

Optimization Configuration

See details in Algorithmic Details of Symbolic Regression and tooltips by clicking on optimization options.

Selected Alphabet

Select the items you want to include into Symbolic Regression. Enabled building blocks are shown as blue colored buttons.

Note

When you create a function with timeDelay, only the output of the function is feeded back with a time delay of 1.

?

Opens the context sensitive Help (<F1>).

Open Result

Opens the Pareto Front of various optimal results (regarding RMSE or complexity). Select a point on the Pareto Front which inserts the corresponding formula into the Function.

Delete Result

Deletes the results of the selected symbolic regression out of the history. It is no longer displayed in the Previous Results list and results cannot be opened.
To delete the symbolic regression node, use the Delete button in Function Step.
