Creating a Scalar Interrunnable Variable

In the Elements palette or toolbar, click the Interrunnable Variable button.
The properties editor of the element is opened automatically and allows the user to change the element properties immediately.
Note
Element names must not begin with a number. If you enter a name that begins with a number, an allowed name is suggested instead.
In the properties editor, Internal Access area, activate the Implicit or Explicit option to select the respective communication mode.
Set other properties according to your needs.
If you do not want to open the properties editor upon an element’s creation, deactivate the Always Show Editor for new Elements option at the bottom of the editor.
You can revoke this setting in the ASCET options window, Confirmation Dialogs node.
Close the properties editor with OK.
The new element appears in the Outline tab.
If you are working in the block diagram editor for SWCs, click inside the drawing area to place the new element.

You cannot use the Interrunnable Variable button to create an interrunnable variable of non-scalar (i.e. array, matrix, or record) type, and you cannot convert a scalar interrunnable variable into an interrunnable variable of non-scalar type. If you need an interrunnable variable of non-scalar type, proceed as described in Creating a Non-Scalar Interrunnable Variable.
