Using External Help Files

ASCET offers the possibility to connect code generation messages with user-defined external help files.

Open the ASCET "Options" window in the Build node.

In the External help URL field, enter a path or URL for the help file(s) you want to connect to the code generation messages.

You can enter only one path in this field. If you want to use one help file for each type of message, use the macro %ID%, which represents the message IDs, as file name. You can use files of various types, i.e. text files, HTML files, etc. However, since the External help URL field allows no wildcard for the file extension, all files must be of the same type.

Close the "Options" window to accept your settings.
In the monitor window, Messages tab, right-click a message and select Show external help from the context menu.
The external help file specified for the selected message type opens.
