Example: Using External Help Files

A simple example shall illustrate the use of external help files.

In the ASCET help directory, a subdirectory UserHelp has been created. Here, user-defined external help files are stored. The names of these files are the message IDs.

The path of the UserHelp directory and the file names (represented by the macro %ID%) have been entered as External help URL in the ASCET options window.

Next, an error occurs. An external help file is available for the respective message ID.

When you right-click the message and select Show external help from the context menu, the external file opens in an appropriate window.
