Copying/Moving Folders or Items
You can copy or move database/workspace items or entire folders and their contents. When the target folder contains an object with the same name as the original, the extension _1 is added to the name of the copied object.
- In the "Database" or "Workspace" list, select the folder(s) or item(s) you want to copy/move.
Do
one of the following to copy the :folder/item.The folder or item is copied to the clipboard.
Do
one of the following to move the :folder/item.The folder or item is moved to the clipboard. The item symbol in the Component Manager appears now black and white (e.g.,
).Note
When you close the database/workspace while the item or folder is still in the clipboard, the clipboard is emptied, but the object is not deleted.
- In the Component Manager, select the target folder for the folder or item in the clipboard.
Do
one of the following to paste the folder/item(s) without updating references.The folder or items are inserted in the selected target folder. If the items were cut, the corresponding items in the source folder are deleted. References in copied items refer to the original items in the source locations.
Do
one of the following to paste the folder/item(s) with updating references. The folder or items are inserted in the selected target folder. The references between the copied items are updated so that they reference each other, instead of the original items. See also Example: Paste with References.
