AoU: ETAS_RTACAR_SM_RTE_031

The validation of AoU ETAS_RTACAR_SM_RTE_031 is performed by verifying that the schema file used by the RTEGen tool to validate AUTOSAR XML description files is not overridden.

By default, the RTEGen tool uses a predetermined version of the AUTOSAR schema, which is embedded in the RTEGen executable. The version used is specified in the RTE Reference Manual.

There is an option available to override the embedded schema version, for example, to allow validation against a newer unsupported AUTOSAR schema version. This can be done with the key ‘ValidateARXMLAgainstSchema’ in the RTEGen.ini file, available as part of the RTEGen tool installation. It is highly recommended not to use this option when RTEGen is used to generate the RTE for a safety-relevant ECU system. Using this option can lead to the generation of incorrect RTE code.

The safety check accesses the RTEGen.ini file and checks that the mentioned key is not used.

Tip

Rte Installation folder

Use the mandatory option rte-inst-folder to specify the path to the installation folder of the RTEGen tool. The required value is the folder where the ‘bin’ folder is located. The check will scan the folder structure to find the RTEGen.ini file.

Description

The schema file which is used by the RTEGen tool to validate AUTOSAR XML description files is overridden. This is done by using the key ‘ValidateARXMLAgainstSchema’ in the RTEGen.ini file. The RTEGen.ini file is located in the same folder as the RTEGen executable. It is highly recommended not to use this key when RTEGen shall be used to generate the RTE for a safety-relevant ECU system. The usage of the key can lead to the generation of incorrect RTE code. This message represents the improper behavior of the rule ETAS_RTACAR_SM_RTE_031.

How To Fix

Remove the key ‘ValidateARXMLAgainstSchema’ from the RTEGen.ini file. This would prevent that the schema file used by the RTEGen tool is being recognized as overridden.
