Writing to ECU Memory

To make your calibrations available in the ECU memory, you can download the dataset. However, this is only possible if the dataset contains only valid calibrations. If the dataset refers to a project without information on memory segments, it may contain invalid calibrations. In this case, you can download only the valid calibrations and replace all invalid calibrations by means of an upload.

Note

Downloading all valid calibrations and uploading all invalid calibrations is possible in one single step by merging the contents using the action Equalize.

To write datasets to the ECU memory:

  1. In the Devices list, select the devices for which you want to perform the selected action.
  2. In the Action field, activate Download.
  3. Check the Calibration access box.
  4. In the Apply to field, activate the corresponding setting:

    • Data to write the datasets
    • Code + Data to write the datasets and the code page
  5. In the From field, highlight the source:

    • Datasets to use datasets from the database
    • File to use datasets from a HEX file
    • Differences, if you only want to write the differences between the working dataset and the reference dataset to the electronic control unit memory.

      Note

The Differences source is available only if the following conditions are met:
Reference dataset (INCA database/HEX file) = reference dataset (ECU) and reference dataset (ECU) = working dataset (ECU)

  6. In the To field, highlight the destination:

    • Working page (+ Code page) to write the working dataset (and the code page if you have selected Code + Data)
    • Reference page (+ Code page) to write the reference dataset (and the code page if you have selected Code + Data)

If you want to write both the working dataset and the reference dataset, highlight both entries by pressing and holding the Shift key or the Ctrl key when you click.

  7. If necessary, activate or deactivate the ECU group via the Device group active field.
  8. Check the settings from the visual display of the selected action:

The source is underlaid blue, the destination is underlaid orange.

  9. Click Do It.

The data is written to the electronic control unit memory.
