Installing a ProF Configuration

With the help of the ProF tool, you can install and manage several ProF configurations.

When you install the first configuration, specify a central directory for the installed configurations. All configurations are then saved to this directory, each one in a separate subdirectory.

Some ProF configurations, especially old ones, may require the use of the Windows 8dot3 file name format for correct execution. INCA supports 8dot3, but only if it is enabled for all volumes used by INCA and the ProF configurations. Mixed volume configurations for the INCA installation and the ProF configuration, for example, one volume with enabled 8dot3 and one without, are not supported. On systems with mixed volume configurations, this means that setting 2: 8dot3 name creation on a per-volume basis, 8dot3 is only supported if the INCA installation and the ProF configuration are stored on the same volume, for example, both on C:\.

Therefore, only the following 8dot3 settings are allowed for installing and using ProF configurations:

0

8dot3 enabled for all volumes on the system

INCA installation and ProF configurations are allowed on any volume

1

8dot3 disabled for all volumes on the system

INCA installation and ProF configurations are allowed on any volume

2

8dot3 name creation on a per volume basis

INCA installation and ProF configuration must be on the same volume, for example, both on C:\
