Defining a Conversion Formula for the Sensor Signal

To define the formula for converting a sensor signal to a physical value:

  1. Mark a device in the Hardware devices list.
  2. Select the Channels tab.
  3. Double-click the field in the Formula column and in the line containing the channel where the sensor signal arrives.

The Edit formula: channel dialog box opens.

  4. Select a conversion formula in the Type field:

    • Identity if you do not want any conversion of the signal value. The input value and the displayed value remain identical.
    • Interpolating table if you want to define fixed values for the physical values and the signal values. The values are displayed in a table to which you can add further lines via the context menu. The interim signal values are interpolated during conversion, resulting in a continuous graphic display of the values.
    • Linear if you want to calculate the signal values with a linear equation.
    • Moebius if you want to calculate the signal values with a fractional equation.
    • Non-interpolating table if you want to define fixed values for the physical values and the signal values. The values are displayed in a table to which you can add further lines via the context menu. The interim signal values are assigned the lower physical value during conversion, resulting in a stepped graphic display of the values.
  5. Enter the unit of the signal value in the Unit field.
  6. You can optionally enter a brief explanation of the conversion in the Comment field.
  7. Click OK.

    The conversion formula is accepted.
