Monitoring Using J1939
J1939 is a vendor- and interface-independent protocol that calibration and diagnostic tools use to communicate with control units. The J1939 protocol has been defined by the Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE).
INCA supports the message format from the J1939 protocol for CAN.
Additionally, for CAN FD, INCA supports the following message formats from the J1939 protocol:
Multi-PG format with 29 Bit CAN ID
Multi-PG format with 11 Bit CAN ID
FD Transport Protocol format
Note |
|---|
Since the DBC description files always contain 29 Bit CAN IDs for the J1939 protocol, the Prio and Destination from the DBC description file are treated as wildcards when receiving an 11 Bit CAN ID. |
