Parameters for ES430 Lambda Module

The configuration program offers both configuration and diagnosis functionality for the ES430 Lambda module:

The following list shows the module parameters for the ES430 module:

Shows a consecutive number.

You cannot edit this field.

Shows which channel is used as Lambda channel.

Note

For Lambda modules with only one channel, this column always displays CH1.

Shows the name of the channel.

Shows the physical unit for displaying the measure variable.

The unit appears in the corresponding measure windows.

Note

The unit cannot be edited.

Defines the default acquisition rate necessary for your measurement task.

The acquisition rate can be selected only for the Ip (pumping current) channel; the rates of the first 5 channels will be set accordingly. The acquisition rate for the Ri (internal resistance) channel is always set to the value 0.5.

The rate given in the table is used as default rate within the measuring environment (e.g. INCA Experiment Environment), but you can overwrite it (e.g. in INCA's Configure Variables dialog).

Note

A large number of channels with high acquisition rate can push your system to its performance limits..

Defines the current 3dB cutoff frequency of the IIR low pass filter for the signal conditioning of the channel. Which settings are possible depends on the current acquisition rate.

You can either manually select the desired cutoff frequency from the list (1 Hz to 50 Hz) or switch off the IIR filter.

Enter the lower limit of the expected physical measurement range.

Enter the upper limit of the expected physical measurement range.

Enter any comment for that signal.

Select which of the measurement variables (e.g. Lambda, A/F, ...) is provided on the analog output. If you want to use the analog output voltage, make sure that the proper Lambda sensor cable is connected to the Lambda module.

Shows the name of the characteristic line that is used by the Lambda module for calculating the Lambda value if the module is equipped with an LSU 4.9 Lambda sensor.

The combo-box contains all Lambda lines that are known to the Daisy Chain configuration program. When you select a different Lambda line from the combo-box and an LSU 4.9 sensor is connected, the change is applied immediately to the device.

Note

Changing the Lambda line of an ES43x Lambda module is only possible in advanced device mode. If you need to configure your hardware in advanced device mode, please call your local ETAS contact.

If the Lambda module is in standby mode (i.e. it is not connected via Ethernet to the PC), you can select the operating mode for the Lambda sensor heating:

  • On

    The heater is always switched on.

  • Off

    The heater is always switched off.

  • External Signal

    The heater is controlled by means of an external signal.

Displays the value of the reference pumping current.

Displays the nominal value of the Lambda sensor's inner resistance, which is used for heater control.

Displays the linear correction factor for the pumping current that is used for correcting the output values of an aged Lambda sensor.

This value is set by calibrating the Lambda module on air.

Shows the name of the characteristic line that is used by the device for warm-up of the Lambda sensor.

Indicates whether the sensor's internal resistance Ri is ok, too low or too high.

  • OK

    The internal resistance Ri is identical with the nominal Ri value. The field is highlighted in green.

  • >

    The actual Ri value is at least 10 % higher than the nominal Ri value. The field is highlighted in yellow.

  • <

    The actual Ri value is at least 10 % lower than the nominal Ri value. The field is highlighted in yellow.

  • General error

    A general error occurred. The field background is white.

Shows whether the Lambda control is ok or whether an error occurred.

Checks whether the Lambda module is operated with a Lambda sensor of the expected type.

Note

The ES430 module only support the Lambda sensor LSU 4.9.

Indicates whether the sensor is operated with the correct supply voltage or whether an error occurred.

Indicates whether there is a short circuit in the Lambda sensor, its wiring or the sensor connectors.

Displays whether there is an internal error in the Lambda module.

Note

If an internal error occurs, update the device with the latest HSP version. If this does not fix the problem, please contact the ETAS support.

Checks whether the measurement electronics is working properly and the device is in a consistent state. If error is displayed in this field, one of the following situations might apply:

  • The Lambda sensor is defective.
  • The system is defective.
  • The Lambda sensor is momentarily in an extreme operating state.

Indicates whether the Lambda module is calibrated.

Note

The Lambda module checks during start-up whether the calibration data of the module are valid. It is possible to run measurements even with corrupted calibration values, but measurement results will be incorrect. In such a case, return the Lambda module to ETAS for calibration service.

Please note that this parameter refers to the calibration of the module itself and not to the combination of the Lambda module and the currently connected Lambda sensor. Calibration of the Lambda module with regard to the connected sensor can be done via the Daisy Chain configuration program.

Indicates whether the state on the external signal line is On or Off.

Note

Please note that this field only indicates the status on the line; if the Lambda module is connected via Ethernet to the PC, the heating of the Lambda sensor is always on if the sensor is connected to the battery.

Select from the combo-box the characteristic line that you would like to display graphically. The combo-box lists all Lambda lines that are stored globally in the Daisy Chain configuration program.

As soon as you select a line, it is displayed graphically below the combo-box.

Note

Lines that are only stored in the device itself but not in the configuration on the PC can not be displayed or selected.

You can not edit the graphic display.
