Interchanging Chain Configurations Between Installations

The Daisy Chain configuration program allows you to interchange complete configurations with other installations of the Daisy Chain configuration program through GCF files (Generic Configuration Files). The GCF file contains all information on all chains that are part of the current configuration.

Note

The GCF file format is specific to the Daisy Chain configuration program. If you want to distribute readily available chain configurations for usage in other configuration tools, you need to export them to an A2L file by means of the Save A2L File command.

To save the current configuration to a GCF file:

  1. In the File menu, select Save As.

    The Save As dialog opens.

  2. Specify path and name of the GCF file and click Save.

All information available in the current configuration is saved to file:

    • IP addresses of the chains
    • Number, type, order, names and serial numbers of all modules being part of the chains
    • Parameter settings of the modules.

You can now distribute the generated file for usage in other installations of the Daisy Chain configuration program.

To import a configuration from a GCF file:

  1. In the File menu, select Open.

    A dialog opens.

  2. Specify path and name of the GCF file and click Open.

All chains and modules and their settings are displayed according to the information from the GCF file.

The editor reads the contents of the file and displays the corresponding configuration.
