Hardware Status Displays

You can display the following values about the hardware status:

Initialization status

The device is inactive.
This status is used only for certain devices, e.g. ODX Flash devices.

The device was successfully initialized.

The device is not initialized or not connected.

The device is physically available, but can not be accessed.

The hardware status cannot be detected.
This status may only occur for 3rd party hardware devices.

Target state and Calibration access

Firmware status

The newest suitable firmware is running on the hardware.

A newer suitable firmware version exists, and therefore a firmware update is recommended.

The firmware status is ambiguous or could not be detected; however, it is possible to use the hardware with this firmware version.

The hardware uses a firmware version which must not be used with this INCA version; it is not possible to use this firmware version.

HSP is available, but the firmware check has not been performed.

HSP is not installed on your system, or the installed firmware version is not compatible with this INCA version. Therefore, the firmware status could not be verified.

Note

Firmware checks from within INCA require HSP V7.1.0 or higher.

Note

For devices that are not fully supported by HSP (including those that are updated automatically without using HSP), no firmware status will be displayed.

Automatic firmware checks within INCA require HSP V9.0.0 or higher.

Failure behav.

Retry always.

INCA continues to try measurement of this module in any case of measurement failure (at measuring start or during measurement).

This option is useful if you want to conduct quick start or cold start measurements.

Abort at start, try again later.

INCA stops measurement of this module in case of failure at measuring start, assuming the module is disconnected or has any systematic problem.

It continues to try measurement in case of failure during the measurement assuming the failure is temporal and can be resolved via retries.

Abort after failure.

The measurement using this hardware module will be terminated in any case of measurement failure (at measuring start or during measurement). The system does not try to reinitialize the hardware module. After the connection has been interrupted, you have to reinitialize manually.

This option is appropriate when, e.g., the measured values are not essential for the experiment, as the module will be ignored after any failure. This option is the default.

Note

You can also assign acoustic signals being played when the hardware connection gets interrupted. This can be configured in the Windows Control Panel under Sounds and Audio Devices. For further information see the INCA Getting Started manual.
