Reusing Experiment with Modified Hardware

If you open an experiment with a modified hardware configuration, INCA attempts to map the variables to the new device and assign them to the right raster. The assignment takes place in 3 steps:

There is a separate dialog page for each of these assignment steps. If one of these steps is not relevant, e.g. because the configurations contain no measurement devices or the assignment is unambiguous and can be made automatically, the step is skipped.

To reuse an experiment with modified hardware:

  1. In the database manager, assign the experiment you want to reuse to the workspace.
  2. Open the experiment.

The mapping dialog Mapping >Experiment< to >Workspace< opens automatically if an assignment has to be made manually.

  3. To assign devices manually for ECU access:

    1. From the Stored device(s) list, select a device for ECU access.
    2. From the Available device(s) list, select the device configured for ECU access in the active workspace.
    3. Click Assign --> to define the assignment.

The assigned devices are removed from the Stored/Available device(s) lists and appear in the Mapped device(s) list.

    4. Click <-- Deassign to undo the assignment if necessary.
    5. Click Next >>.
  4. To assign rasters manually for ECU access:

    1. From the Supported raster(s) [stored] list, select a raster for ECU access.
    2. From the Supported raster(s) [available] list, select the raster configured for ECU access in the active workspace.
    3. Click Assign --> to define the assignment.

The assigned rasters are removed from the Supported raster(s) [stored] list and appear in the Mapped raster(s) list.

    4. Click <-- Deassign to undo the assignment if necessary.
    5. Click Next >>.
  5. To assign measure channels manually:

    1. From the Stored channel(s) list, which lists all channels that are configured in the experiment, select a measurement channel.
    2. From the Available channel(s) list, which lists all channels that belong to the hardware configured in the active workspace, select the corresponding measurement channel.
    3. Click Assign --> to define the assignment.

The assigned measurement signals are removed from the Stored/Available channel(s) list and appear in the Mapped channels list.

    4. Click <-- Deassign to undo the assignment if necessary.
  6. Click Finish.

If not all assignments have been made, INCA makes the remaining assignments automatically.

The experiment opens in the Experiment Environment.
