Defining the Output File

To configure the default settings for the output file of a recorder:

In the list of recorders, select the recorder for which you want to configure the output file.
In the context menu, select the Open recorder configuration command or double-click on the desired recorder.
The dialog box Recorder Configuration opens.
On the Output File tab, define preferences for the measurement file and the MDF header:

To define measurement file preferences:

In the Path field, enter the file path under which the output file should be stored.

With the use of variables, the corresponding information can be entered directly in the field. Variables and text can both be used in the Path field.

To use variables, enter the symbol & in the Path field.

You are able to change four variable values (see User Options for Meausurements: MDF Header Preset Tab).

In the File field, enter the file name for storing the measurement.

With the use of variables, the corresponding information can be entered directly in the field. Variables and text can both be used in the File field.

To use variables, enter the symbol & in the File field.

&[CNT1-10]	Counter to use for a file name with an automatically sequenced version number. If the version number is higher than the digit number, the higher number of the digits is used. Examples: CNT1: File counter with 1 digit > 2 CNT2: File counter with 2 digits > 02
&[COMPANY]	Company name read from the INCA user options
&[DATABASE]	Name of the used database
&[dd]	Day, 01-31
&[EXPERIMENT]	Name of the used experiment
&[hh]	Hour of the day, 00-12

To use a time stamp in the file name, in the Format field, select the desired date time format and click .

To use a file name with an automatically sequenced version number for the next recording, in the Increment digits field, select the number of digits of the increment and click .

You are able to change four variable values (see User Options for Meausurements: MDF Header Preset Tab).

Note
Key-value pairs that are defined according to Adding Key-Value Pairs to the MDF File can also be used as variables in the File and Path fields. For example, if the key is named "key1", you can insert &[key1] into the respective field.

To define preferences for the MDF header

Mark the Insert default comment check box if the INCA default comment should be added when saving the measurement file.
The Edit button gets enabled, and you can edit the default comment. The definition of the default comment is shown in the upper Comment field (with gray background color).

Enter any free comment in the lower Comment edit field.

With the use of variables, the corresponding information can also be directly entered in the fields. Variables and text can both be used in the Comment field.

To add predefined variables, enter the symbol & in the Comment field.

You are able to change four variable values (see User Options for Meausurements: MDF Header Preset Tab).

Enter your name in the User field.
Enter the name of your department in the Company field.
Enter the project name in the Project field.

Enter the name of the subject in the Vehicle field.

Note
The entry fields Project and Vehicle store the last ten entries of a user. If you enter letters and they correspond to one of the last entries, a drop-down menu opens from which one of the last ten entries can be selected.

To read settings from User Options

You can also use the information stored in the User Options for User, Company, Project and Vehicle. Do the following:

Click on the command Read from User Options.

Note
These settings are used for all existing recorders.

To write settings to User Options

You can also transfer the information entered in the fields User, Company, Project and Vehicle to the user options. Do the following:

Click on the command Write to User Options.

Note
These settings overwrite the entries stored in the User Options.

To show Output File Properties dialog after recording

Enable the Show Output File Properties dialog after recording check box if the properties of the output file should be displayed after the recording.
