Assigning a Project and Working Dataset

To define a new project and/or working dataset for a workspace:

Select the workspace in the Database Objects list box of the Database Manager.
In the Project menu, select Add project/dataset.
The Select project and working data for Offline device dialog box opens.
Select a project and/or working dataset.
Click OK.
The Add new device for project dialog box opens.

Select the device from the list that will be used with the selected project and click OK. The project and the working dataset are added to the Project/device list box of the workspace.

If you do not know which device will be used with the selected project, it is recommended to select the Virtual System for preparing the experiment. The virtual hardware supports rasters and raster checks. Moreover, all main interfaces are supported. A virtual device can be replaced by a real hardware device later. If needed, a mapping dialog will open where you can map devices and rasters as required. If you click Cancel instead, a non-specific offline device will be added to the workspace. Please note that this device can only be used for very limited offline-configuration; there are no rasters defined for offline devices, and therefore there is no raster check supported. If you select a read-only dataset (i.e., a reference dataset or master dataset), a copy is automatically generated with an incremented name and used as the working dataset.
