Copying Single Variables

To copy individual variables of a dataset to one or more other datasets:

  1. Select the desired source dataset.

You can use an INCA dataset or a dataset file in one of the formats CVX (*.csv), DAMOS (*.dcm), CDF V2.0 (*.cdfx) or PaCo (*.xml).

  2. Select the destination dataset(s).

You can use only INCA datasets for the destination. The datasets have to be working datasets.

  3. Activate the destination datasets to which you want to copy. Deactivate the destination datasets to which you do not want to copy.
  4. In the Actions menu, select Output format and the corresponding output format:

    • ASCII if you want to generate the output file in ASCII format (file extension .txt).
    • HTML if you want to generate the output file in HTML format (file extension .htm).
  5. In the Variables ( & functions) to process list, select the variable or several variables you want to copy
  6. In the Actions menu, select Select action and then select Copy.
  7. Make sure that your settings are correct (user setting, path setting, size of output, file-format fine setting).
  8. In the Actions menu, select Copy highlighted.

The selected variables of the source dataset are copied to the active destination datasets. The copy settings used are those made for copying the complete contents of the source dataset.

Note

Once you have created the dataset by importing a data exchange file, the dataset can contain variables with fill bytes. Variables containing fill bytes are represented in gray. Variables containing fill bytes are not taken into account during copy actions.
