Opening Datasets and Data Exchange Files in the Experiment Environment

Note

This operation is only available when the CDM was opened from the INCA Database Manager.
As an alternative, you can start the CDM directly from the Experiment Environment; in this case, the data will already be available in the Experiment Environment, and therefore the CDM function Open experiment will be disabled.

To display the contents of datasets or data exchange files in the experiment environment:

  1. In the group field Source forAction or Destination forAction, select the dataset or the data exchange files which you want to have displayed in the experiment environment.
  2. In the Variables menu, select the Open experiment menu function.
  3. If you have not yet assigned an experiment in the current CDM session, a dialog box is opened in which you can select the experiment with the desired configuration. Acknowledge your selection with OK.

The dataset or the data exchange file is opened in the Experiment Environment as a working page, having the configuration stored in the experiment. However, variables or calibration variables not included in the dataset or in the data exchange files are not displayed. The experiment is in offline mode and no connection is made to the hardware.

Separate Experiment Environments can be opened simultaneously for different datasets and data exchange files. For a better comparison of the data, the same experiment, and hence the same window layout, is always used.

You can modify the variables in the Experiment Environment and add variables and editors. Modifications to calibration variables are stored in the dataset or in the data exchange files. Modifications to the experiment configuration, however, are only temporary and cannot be stored.
