Settings for YT and XY Oscilloscopes
Properties for the elements used in the experiment are displayed in the Experiment window area of the Display Configuration tab.
If you click on a YT or XY oscilloscope in the experiment structure, the corresponding properties are displayed in the following tables:
Table Graphical elements
The settings contained in this table can in most cases also be changed using the toolbar of the oscilloscope.
You can make the following settings:
Name
Shows the name of the oscilloscope. The name can be changed here.
Mode
Sets the display mode of the oscilloscope.

YT Scrolling |
The display area and the time axis are continuously synchronized with the measurement curve. |

Wrap Around Curtain |
The display area remains fixed, the preceding display section is retained and is overwritten by the next section. |
||
|
Wrap Around Clear |
The display area remains fixed, the preceding display section is immediately deleted. |
||
| XY Mode |
The display changes to the XY mode. The time axis is replaced with a horizontal value axis.

Zoom Mode
It defines which axis segments can be zoomed. To zoom in, the desired area in the oscilloscope is traversed while holding the mouse button pressed. The respective axes are adjusted accordingly.

Not every zoom mode is supported with running measurement display. With active dynamic axis adjustment, the zoom may be canceled immediately. |

Zoom Y Axis |
The zoom affects only the vertical value axes. |

Zoom X Axis |
The zoom affects only the time axis or the horizontal value axis.

|
Zoom Box |
The zoom affects all axes.
|

| No Zoom | The zoom is switched off. |
Legend Position
It defines whether the signal list is displayed on the left, on the right, at the top, at the bottom or whether it is disabled.
Icon Size in Toolbar
It defines the size of the buttons in the toolbar of the oscilloscope.
Table Time axes
This table contains data if the oscilloscope is in the YT mode.
You can make the following settings:
Axis ID
Shows the unique identifier of the time axis. It cannot be changed.
Axis Text
It defines the axis text. It is freely changeable and is displayed under the time scale.
Span(s)
It defines the extent of the time axis in seconds. Any number of fractions of a second can be used.
Background Color
It opens a dialog for selecting the background color of the time axis.
Character Color
It opens a dialog for selecting the foreground color.
Background Color 2
It opens a dialog for selecting a second background color for the time axis. The time flow can be visually enhanced using intervals with different colors.
Time span Overlap
For the modes Wrap Around Curtain and Wrap Around Clear, it defines the relative position (in %) starting at which the signals will continue to be drawn upon reaching the right edge of the oscilloscope.
Example:
The time axis span is set to 10 s and the timespan overlap is set to 10 %.
The visualization will start with drawing the first 10 s of the measurement. Having reached the end of the right-hand side of the oscilloscope at the 10 s tickmark, drawing is continued from right but with the last 10% of the former oscilloscope display, i.e. the time axis will now range from 9 s to 19 s. Every 9 seconds a new screen is created, keeping the last 10% of the former data in the display.
Table X-axis
This table contains data if the oscilloscope is in the XY mode.
You can make the following settings:
Axis Text
It defines the axis text. It is freely changeable and is displayed under the horizontal value axis.
Range
It defines the value range of the horizontal axis. Lower and upper limit are freely selectable.
Dynamic Axis Adaptation
It defines whether the value range of the X-axis is automatically adjusted if it is exceeded.
XY Time span
It defines how long a measured value may be passed with ongoing measurement and still be displayed.
Background Color
It opens a dialog for selecting the background color of the horizontal axis.
Character Color
It opens a dialog for selecting the foreground color for axis labeling.
Axis Unit
It defines the unit displayed on the horizontal axis.
Rotation of Text
It defines the rotation of the axis labeling in angular degrees. The rotation is done counterclockwise.
Merge Algorithm
It defines when a new measured value is drawn in the oscilloscope. This is relevant if the measure variables used on the X- and the Y-axis are measured in different rasters.
A new measured value is drawn:
- with every new measured value of any measure variable
- every time when a new measured value is acquired for the measure variable of the X-axis
- only if the measured values for the measure variable of the X-axis as well as the Y-axis are acquired simultaneously.
Table Signals
This table lists the settings for the measure variables in the oscilloscope.
You can make the following settings:
Name
Shows the name of the measure variable. The name cannot be changed.
Data representation
Shows the type of data representation. Depending on the data type of the measure variable, you can select between physical, hexadecimal, decimal or binary value representation.
Number of decimals
It defines the number of decimals for values in the signal list and at the intersection with the analysis cursor.

Color
It opens a dialog for selecting the color of the measurement curve.
Line Style
It defines the style of the measurement curve, e.g. continuous or dashed.
Line Width
It defines the line width of the measurement curve.
Marker Symbol
It defines the symbol for displaying the individual samples.
Marker Size
It defines the size of the icon for displaying the individual samples.
It defines whether the individual samples are connected with each other directly or in steps. The default is defined in the A2L file, see Optional Data Tab (for Measure Variables).

Strip
It specifies the strip in which the measure variable is drawn. By selecting New Strip from the context menu, the signal can be moved to a new strip.

Axis
It defines the axis for displaying the measure variable. By selecting New Analog Axis or New Digital Axis from the context menu, a new axis can be assigned to a measure variable.
Range
It defines the value range of the axis used. For analog signals, lower and upper limit are freely selectable. For signals in the digital range, the limits cannot be changed.
Signal Filling
It defines whether the area between the value 0 and the signal curve is filled in color or not. For signals in the digital range, the default setting can be changed in the user options.
Device
It displays the device to which the measure variable belongs.
Table Strips
This table lists the settings for the strips.
You can make the following settings:
Position
It shows the position of the strip in the oscilloscope. The position cannot be changed.
Background Color
It opens a dialog for selecting the background color of the strip.
Grid Color
It opens a dialog for selecting the color of the grid of the strip.
Enable Grid
It switches the visibility of the grid lines on or off.
Strip Separator Color
It opens a dialog for selecting the color of the split bar. The split bar is located underneath the strip in each case.
Table Y-axes
This table contains the Y-axes scales for displaying the measure variables.
The following settings can be made:
Axis ID
Shows the unique identifier of the axis. It cannot be changed.
Axis Text
It defines the axis text. It is freely changeable and is displayed next to the axis scale.
Range
It defines the value range of the axis. For analog signals, lower and upper limit are freely selectable. For signals in the digital range, the limits cannot be changed.
Dynamic Axis Adaptation
It defines whether the value range of the X-axis is automatically adjusted if it is exceeded.
Background Color
It opens a dialog for selecting the background color of the axis.
Character Color
It opens a dialog for selecting the foreground color for axis labeling.
X-Axis
It defines the axis as horizontal axis. Only one axis can be the horizontal axis.

Table YT-Cursors
The settings of the cursors in the YT oscilloscope are summarized in this table. This table remains empty as long as no cursors are created.
You can make the following settings:
Cursor ID
It displays the unique designator of the cursor. It cannot be changed.
Cursor Color
It opens a dialog for selecting the color of the cursor.
Width
It defines the line width of the cursor.
Table XY-Cursors
The settings of the cursors in the XY oscilloscope are summarized in this table. This table remains empty as long as no cursors are created.
You can make the following settings:
Cursor ID
It displays the unique designator of the cursor. It cannot be changed.
Cursor Color
It shows the color of the cursor.
Width
It shows the line width of the cursor.
Table Border lines
Border lines can be created and configured in this table. This table remains empty as long as no border lines are created. To create border lines, use the Add function in the context menu of the table.
You can make the following settings:
Border Name
It defines the name of the border line. The name can be changed.
Type
It defines the type of the border line. The following types can be selected:

Horizontal Line |
The border line is connected with a Y-axis. |

Vertical Line |
The border line is connected with an X-axis.
|
||
|
Polygon |
The border line refers to a Y-axis and an X-axis.
|
Axis
It defines to which axis the border line is assigned.
Value
It opens the Value dialog where the axis/axes and the values are assigned to the border line.
Color
It opens a dialog for selecting the color of the border line.
Line Width
It defines the line width of the border line.
Visible
It defines the visibility of the border line.
Table Display Trigger
In this table you can define a condition for triggering the display in the oscilloscope.
You can make the following settings:
Name
It shows the name of the oscilloscope for which the trigger is used. The name can be changed. A change renames the entire oscilloscope.
Trigger Signal
It defines the measure variable that is monitored for triggering. Only measure variables displayed in the oscilloscope can be selected.
Operator
It defines which signal course is required for triggering.

A rising edge of the signal is required. The signal course must rise from a value below the threshold to a value above it. |

Falling Edge |
A falling edge of the signal is required. The signal course must fall from a value above the threshold to a value below it. |
Threshold
It defines the threshold that must be overrun or underrun for triggering.
Pretrigger time [s]
It defines the maximum time period for which measured values are displayed before the trigger condition is met. Pretrigger and posttrigger time together may not be greater than 125 seconds.
Posttrigger time [s]
It defines the time period for which measured values are displayed after the trigger condition is met. Pretrigger and posttrigger time together may not be greater than 125 seconds.
Repetitive
It defines whether the trigger should be triggered once or repeatedly.
