Managing Elements

On the Display Configuration tab, you can manage the following elements of the experiment in the experiment structure:

Cut element

When you cut an element, it is copied to a clipboard and can be pasted again at a different place in the experiment.

To cut an experiment:

  1. Select the element to be cut.
  2. In the context menu, select the command Cut or press Ctrl + x.

    The selected element is cut at the current location and moved to the clipboard.

Note

The last layer of an experiment cannot be cut.

Copy element

When you copy an element, it is copied to a clipboard and can be pasted again as a copy at a different place in the experiment.

To copy an element:

  1. Select the element to be copied.
  2. In the context menu, select the command Copy or press Ctrl + c.

    The selected element is copied onto the clipboard.

Insert element

To paste an element from the clipboard into the experiment structure:

  1. Select the location at which you want to insert the element.
  2. In the context menu, select the command Paste or press Ctrl + v.

    The element is pasted at the place you have selected in the experiment structure.

Note

You can insert variables only in measure/calibration windows which can actually represent the variable type in question.

Elements of the same type cannot be inserted into each other.

Delete element

To delete an element:

  1. Select the element to be deleted.
  2. In the context menu, select the command Delete or press Del.

    The selected element is deleted.

Note

The last layer of an experiment cannot be deleted.

Move element

To move an element:

  1. Select the element to be moved.
  2. Drag the element to the place to which you want to move it.

    The element is moved to the corresponding place.

Note

You can move variables only in measure/calibration windows which can actually represent the variable type in question.

Elements of the same type cannot be moved into each other.

Mark element

To mark multiple elements:

  1. Click on the first element to be marked.
  2. Hold down the Shift key.
  3. Click on the other elements to be marked.

    Multiple elements are marked.

Note

A multiselection can be made only with elements of the same type.

To mark a continuous series of elements:

  1. Click on the first element to be marked.
  2. Hold down the Shift key.
  3. Click on the last element to be marked.

    A series of elements is marked.

Note

A multiselection can be made only with elements of the same type.

When you have marked an element, it is highlighted by a colored bar.
