Align measurements by reference signals

Measurement files recorded during the same test by different devices may be offset in time because recording does not start at exactly the same moment. Use this operation to determine the time offset from signals that represent the same measured behavior and align the files to a common time basis.

The measurement file that was added first in the Sources step is used as the reference. Data Operator determines the time shift of each subsequent file by comparing the selected reference signals and applies the resulting shift to all signals in that file.

  1. After adding the Align Measurements by reference signals operation, select one or more signals in the Reference signals field.

Select signals that represent the same measured behavior in the measurement files. The signals can have different names, for example, vehicleSpeed recorded by the vehicle and gpsVelocity recorded by a GPS device.

  2. If the measurement files use different reference signal names, select all applicable signals.

For each measurement file, Data Operator uses the first selected signal that is available in that file. Each file must contain at least one of the selected signals.

  3. In the Sample time input field, enter the sample interval to use when comparing the reference signals.

A smaller sample time can improve the alignment accuracy but increases the computation time.

  4. To select the unit, use the drop-down list.
