Creating a Validation Rule

To create and set up a validation rule, proceed as follows.

In the ASCMO-Cycle Generator window, select Validation Rules → Configure Validation Rule.
The "Select a validation rule" window opens.
To create a new validation rule, do the following.
1. In the validation rules list of the "Select a validation rule" window, select a validation rule template or an existing validation rule.
2. Click on Duplicate.
  A copy of the selected validation rule or template is created and selected. It is named <original_name> (new) or <original_name> (<i>).
  The copy of an existing validation rule contains all settings of the original, the copy of a template is empty.
To set up a validation rule, do the following.
1. In the validation rules list of the "Select a validation rule" window, select an existing validation rule.
  You cannot edit the properties of the validation rule templates (Formula based validation rule, Value constrained validation rule, and External Validation Rule).
2. Open the "Configuration" tab.
3. In the "Configuration" tab, specify the validation rule according to your needs.

To select a validation rule, do the following.
1. In the conversion rules list of the "Select a conversion rule" window, select an existing conversion rule.
2. Click on Select and close.
To deselect the current validation rule without selecting a new one, do the following.
- In the main window of the ASCMO-Cycle Generator, select Validation Rules → Deselect Current Validation Rule.

The selected validation rule is shown in the bottom bar of the main window of the ASCMO-Cycle Generator.
